Harnessed to Hope

I know that most of the Huskies I talk to know what HTH is, but for other Husky Bloggers and human ones, who check out my blog, I will explain.

HTH is Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue (www.nbrescue.com). Harnessed to Hope is an organization that rescues and rehomes Northern Breed dogs. Northern Breed dogs are dogs that most people think of as working sled dogs, for example: Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Samoyeds, Keeshonden, American Eskimo, Norwegian Elkhounds and other similar breeds. I am one of these rescues.

I use to live in Georgia. I had five puppies and when they were born my owner dumped me & my puppies in a shelter. Someone at this shelter knew one of our volunteers. A really nice lady named Gloria, who is an HTH volunteer made arrangements for me and my puppies to be transported. So we were loaded into a truck and began a trip to Philadelphia, PA. On this trip we got stuck in an ice storm and had to spend a few days locked in the truck on an ice covered road. When the ice finally started to melt we were able to continue our journey to Gloria's house. She was going to be our foster Mom and take care of me & my puppies until HTH found us ALL permanent homes. She gave us a home, fed us, gave us a bath, took us to the vet to be checked out and brought up to date on our shots, and had other medical attention that was needed, and gave us love.

We made our debut at the Reading Pet Expo back in March. Gloria brought me and two of my pups to the show. On the third day of the show, my Mom, Dad, and Andee were scheduled to volunteer - I didn't know at the time they were going to adopt me. Anyway, when they saw me they fell in love. They wanted to take me home.

Now they had a dog at home already, Magic (aka: Queen Fluffy Butt), and they wanted to make sure that we got along together. So they fostered me for a week, and at the end of that week, they adopted me. I love my new home - I even love Her Fluffiness, the Queen.

That is what Harnessed to Hope does for dogs. These people LOVE dogs, and they do all they can to find us Lost Puppies a good home. They found me and ALL five of my puppies good permanent homes!
My pictures here tell the story. The top one is what I looked liked shortly after I came to PA. I was a skinny little thing. The second one is just my Volunteer shirt, I like it so I kept it. The third picture is what I look like today - I told you I was a cutie!

What a wonderful story. I always love to hear how other doggies found their fur-ever homes!! HTH is certainly a wonderful rescue. I make sure my human gives money to them from time to time, and always tries to win something at their e-bay auctions!!

Hi Indy, Thank you. I am healthy and feel GREAT! I weigh 51 lbs and my coat is soft and silky feeling (it was pretty coarse before). I am a little more confident, but I still have some scary moments.

It's great to see huskies treated well! Sadly, the huskies who are forced to run in the Iditarod are treated very cruelly. For the facts about this barbaric race, visit the Sled Dog Action Coalition website: http://www.helpsleddogs.org
