Mom's New Hobby

I think my Mom is going through her second childhood. She had found a couple dolls back in the early spring at the flea market and it has really grown it such a hobby. She actually has more dollies than doggies! Well, maybe not, she has a chair full of stuffies doggies, but she has collected quite a few dolls.

She is into Portrait Dolls. They are dolls that are made to resemble specific people, in most cases celebrities. Here are some of the dolls she has collected so far.
This is her latest addition to her collection.
This is Elizabeth Taylor
She even has the violet eyes
BTW - Mom searched the internet and Elizabeth actually DOES have violet eyes!
"I Love Lucy" star, Lucille Ball
Mom remembers watching this show as a child.
She thinks Lucy is so funny.
These are Mom's favorites.
"Gone With the Wind" is her absolute favorite movie, so it stands to reason she would have dolls to go with the movie. She has two Scarlett O'Hara dolls and a Melanie Hamilton Wilkes (in the middle). Scarlett was played by Vivien Leigh, and Melanie was played by Olivia DeHaviland.
This doll is from the Robert Tonner Company. Mom thinks she looks more like the character than the Franklin Mint doll (doll in green in the above picture).

Very nice. Make sure you don't eat them on your human....I don't think she'd be too impressed with that.

Hi Amici, I know I can't eat them - Mom definitely wouldn't be too happy if I did. She is still keeping the one doll (Elizabeth) in the box. She says it is because she is wearing a white dress.

My mom used to collect Barbie dolls. She had them lined up in her bedroom. Once, while she was away at college, her cousin had to sleep in her room and he said he couldn't sleep because all the barbies were staring at him. Is that how you feel?

Hi Steve, No, I don't feel like that yet. She has her dolls in her workroom, so we don't have to look at them all the time.

Those dolls are kinda creepy. I think they would make good chew toys.

Hi Holly,
Yep, I agree with you - they do look like they would make nice chew toys - but Mom would K-I-L-L me! She has even added a few more dolls to this collection! Now she is making dresses for them!!!
