Flea Market Finds

Hey Everyone,

I want to tell you guys about what my Mom found at the Flea Market - Dolls!
I think she is going through a second childhood (?), not really, she collects dolls here and there.

Anyway, during the last two summers she has found 5 dolls - two of which she has always wanted, both of them by Franklin Mint.

This first one is the "Gibson Girl Bride"
The Gibson Girl was one of the icons of the late 1800s - early 1900s. This doll is porcelain, and she is in fair condition. Her hair is a little messed up, and she has a missing pinky finger. She has her entire outfit - an ivory Bridal Gown and veil, underwear, slip, and of course - her flowers.
Mom is not sure how - or who - she can get to fix her hair. She is going to see if there is a doll hospital in the area. There was one around here years ago, but she is not sure if it is still there.

If anyone knows of a doll hospital in or around the City of Philadelphia, please let her know.

I think this next doll everyone will recognize from the movie "Gone With The Wind"
Scarlett O'Hara

Mom absolutely L-O-V-E-S this movie.
She bought the doll this weekend for $5.00!!!!!

The doll is vinyl and is in fair condition, she has a small crack on her face that is hardly noticeable (Mom noticed it just a few minutes ago), and one on her right front just under the shoulder - this one is actually hidden pretty good by the dress. Mom was talking about taking her to the doll hospital to see if she can get her fixed.

Her dress has a small tear in it. She is dressed in the outfit from the opening scenes - The Barbeque at Twelve Oaks - but she is missing her bonnet, shawl, shoes and jewelry.

So of course Mom had to check out e-bay.
The shawl, shoes and a new dress are on the way!

Such a shame you live so far away. My mum has a friend here in Melbourne (Australia) who fixes dolls just like those ones! I hope your mom finds someone to help her make repairs soon.

My mom used to collect Barbie dolls but doesn't really anymore. She has some at her parents houses. They are still in the boxes and to me, that sounds like no fun to leave toys in boxes.

Hey Huffle Hawson, Hello!
Thanks. Mom has emailed two people that are close about Scarlett O'Hara. She may have to mail her out. Hopefully she will hear from them soon.

Hey Kat,
Andee - my human sister - just gave ALL of her Barbie's to her little cousin Abbi.
Leaving toys in a box doesn't make sense to me either. I don't want any of my toys left in boxes - I want to play with them.
