Quilting for Us Rescues

As I told everyone in a previous post, Harnessed to Hope, MaPaw, and Delaware Valley are hosting a Hike 'N Howl to benefit us rescue doggies. Well, my Mom has decide to make a small wall quilt to donate. She is making what is called a Crazy Quilt.

For those of you who do not know, a Crazy Quilt is a quilt that is pieced with random pieces of fancy fabric, then embroidered and embellished with buttons, beads, and charms.

The one Mom is making is made entirely of different types of satin fabrics left over from various samples and orders from work, and some pieces of lace. It is various shades of white, ivory and very pale muted colors. She is planning to do all of the embroidery and embellishments in white.

Here is a picture of her progress so far. It doesn't look like much yet, but as she gets closer to finishing it, you will see how pretty this type of quilting is.

Wow, that looks like a comfy quilt. I wouldn't mind sleeping on that.

Sasha, Yep, it does look nice and comfy. It is probably nice and cool since it is made from satin, but Mom won't let me have it.

Hi Holly, Thanks. It is a gorgeous quilt. Mom works on it everyday so it will be done in time for the Hike 'N Howl.
